Founded in 2019, the Department of Artificial Intelligence at IIT Hyderabad provides cutting-edge academic programs covering AI theory and practical applications. We focus on fostering innovation and research to build an ecosystem that nurtures future AI leaders and pioneers.

Research Centre

Centre for Research and Innovation in AI क्रिया / KRIYA

KRIYA is the department’s dedicated research infrastructure, providing state-of-the-art GPU clusters, HPC access, and collaborative workspaces. It serves as a hub for interdisciplinary AI research and industry partnerships, enabling faculty and students to pursue ambitious long-horizon research.

Welcome to the Department of Artificial Intelligence at IIT Hyderabad, India’s first dedicated AI department. We offer BTech, MTech, and PhD programs with curricula rooted in mathematical foundations, programming, and cutting-edge applications like autonomous systems, healthcare, NLP, and computer vision.

We emphasize real-world learning through immersive industry experiences, including 6-month BTech internships and joint MTech positions. These hands-on opportunities equip students with practical expertise to solve complex challenges.
